The first step is the hardest...

So I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but I had yet to get around to it. This page will mostly be a personal diary of my journeys, thoughts, and adventures within Japanese lolita fashion. However, before writing about anything else, I'll share a little bit about me...

My personal favorite picture!

To start with, I'm a 27 years old, married, and living in Florida - perhaps one of the worst places to be a lolita fashion enthusiast in the continental U.S. The humidity, heat, and sun make it difficult to wear the fashion for a good 4-6 months out of the year, making autumn and winter my favorite times of the year because it makes participating in this frilly fashion much easier. Also, aside from the weather, autumn also features many brand releases that suit my personal style best - browns, chocolates, and themes that are not the pastel sugar sweet that I first met when learning about the fashion.

I first found out about lolita via Tumblr. At the time I merely dabbled in it (it being Tumblr), primarily using it as a platform to follow my interests - which at the time were mostly limited to Sailor Moon. However, I was also following a few blogs that posted general cute content. My interests were limited, but eventually I ran across a fateful post that led me to the fashion. After that, it was a short matter of time before I discovered my local community and began attending meetups, meeting other like minded girls who shared many of the same interests as me. Ever since then, lolita has become my number one hobby, and I've been lucky enough to meet lots of beautiful and interesting people.

Since Tumblr was such an influential force in sparking my interest, it was only a matter of time until I created my own lolita-centric page. You can find that page here - The Chocolate Maiden. And while Tumblr is a great place to post pretty pictures, it's not always the best for deeper dialogue. Which brings me to this page.
