No matter how large your closet is, or whether you are referring to your regular or your lolita wardrobe, everyone is bound to eventually at one point or another find themselves in a wardrobe slump. As for me, these are the ways I deal with having "nothing to wear".

Well, I have to say I've been pretty lucky with most things in my wardrobe. The majority of things have been purchased through brand sites, secondhand sites, auction sites, or even using an in-store shopping service with little trouble. I find the item, decide to buy it, and make it happen! However, sometimes things don't work out as planned...

I have to say, this is something I've been thinking about an awful lot lately, especially as I'm putting together my EGL wardrobe post. I suppose it's different for everyone, based on specific needs and what your goal is. Naturally, someone who wears lolita only for cons and meets is going to need a lot less to pull together a functioning and complete wardrobe than someone whose goal is to wear it daily.

Why don't I wear lolita more often? While preparing for this post, I read some other posts on the matter, and many girls cited wardrobe size as a primary reason for not wearing it as often. Fortunately, this hasn't been the case as of late for me, but there are several other reasons I have in mind.

Lolita 52 - My best deal

Seeing as this is Black Friday here in the United States, I thought this would be a relevant topic. In case any of my overseas readers are unaware - Black Friday is what Americans consider the "official" beginning of the holiday shopping season - and it's always the Friday after Thanksgiving. Lots of retailers open ridiculously early - some as early as 3 am - and offer ridiculously good deals on merchandise. Online retailers have also jumped on the bandwagon with their own special sales day - "Cyber Monday" and it serves the same purpose as Black Friday. I'm personally not a big fan of either of these days because there is more to the holiday season than gifts, but it is what is is.

Lolita 52 - What my own lolita lifestyle is like

I'd love to take this moment to wax poetically about my fabulous, frilly lolita lifestyle - how I wear the fashion on a daily basis, including at work. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I'm employed somewhere that require uniforms, and even if it didn't my line of work is a bit on the messy side, so dressing in such opulent clothing is not exactly prudent. Additionally, I also live in the south eastern United States, which has a climate that is rather hostile to wearing the layers required with lolita for much of the year. However, despite these obstacles, I strive to have as much of a lolita lifestyle as possible.

Lolita 52 - Combining lolita with other fashions

To be honest, this post was really difficult for me to write as I outside of lolita my wardrobe is pretty boring. I've wasn't very interested in fashion prior to getting into this one, and my outfits were very basic, jeans and a t-shirt were my go to clothing on the weekends - and still are when I'm not in lolita. However, there is one fashion trend that I've been fond of, which is beginning to get attention outside of Tumblr - Disneybounding.

Now, cosplay and fandom coords usually get the side eye with the majority of adherents to this fashion, but I'm of the opinion there's nothing wrong with them as long as you remember to stick to the rules and guidelines of lolita.

My wardrobe's growth has been pretty small recently, due to the fact that I've started a new budget that will allow me to spend guilt free. Unfortunately, because of this, I haven't added much to my wardrobe recently in the way of main pieces, but have exchanged some shoes and blouses for things that are more elegant and opulent, and in the long run will lend themselves to more variety in my coordinates. I've found that my style has begun to evolve into less of a traditional sweet aesthetic (not that it was ever the pastel flavor), and more into a classic-sweet hybrid. As much as I find classic beautiful, I just love the cute themes and imagery present in sweet, particularly chocolate and other desserts. However, I am waiting on a few things in the mail (so I guess technically they aren't part of my closet yet), and have a main piece that I've yet to wear to a meet (but have worn in public very briefly).

Honestly, what lolita is ever satisfied with their wardrobe? It seems that a wish list is something that is perpetually growing, whether it's just with dresses, or something as simple as a blouse. And I can assure you, my wish list has grown quite a bit recently. Fall is the season for me, and it's such a shame that I live in Florida where the darker colors and heavy fabrics of fall make my favorite and most desired pieces difficult to wear.

When I attended my first meetup, I wore a handmade skirt that I literally finished the night before (I'm a real procrastinator)... It was incredibly simple and not very exciting.
